What are we coming up with ...

Years passed by, and now we have reached a point where we can deliver pretty much anything that this community in large needs, with solution that are par excellence. But the only bottleneck that any organization with clear intent faces is that of availability of funds. Hence, we decided to move from the conventional way of raising funds to a more organized way of raising funds where the donor would not donate for a particular project executing at a particular month of the year but would be committed for a yearlong engagement with the project with a decent monthly donation of a committed denomination ranging from Rs. 100, Rs. 200/-, Rs.500/- or Rs.1000/-. Let’s do a little bit of math. Let’s say we were able to get on board 1000 people from various walks of life, be it our friends who are now married and settled, working for different MNCs, or retired personals, or philanthropists, or college going students. 1000 such people who see that our ideas and our work is going to bring about a transformation in the society that we live in, we now have a steady income for the organization which is roughly Rs.1L per month, considering Rs. 100/- by 1000 donors. With this steady income we do not have to break our head, at least for the next 3 years, as we have a committed set of 1000 people taking care of it.

Now, if your mind questions as to WHY SHOULD I CONTRIBUTE Rs.100/-? Then this is a must read and it would be life a transforming read. You wouldn't have read anything of this sort which puts perspective in so much detail.

Most of the intellectual mind would question as to what would I get back donating Rs.100/- of my hard earnings. There are few things which mere logic cannot answer. There has to be deep understanding of how life works and how we are all connected. Probably this attempt to explain how life worked in reverse way all these years and what we are intending to change in the most fundamental level of our society, should convince you as why you CAN and WILL pay Rs.100/- towards the projects of YUVA. These briefings have been broken down to 6 posts which largely explains in detail why #thefirst1000mavericks.

Let me quickly throw few questions at you so that you start giving a thought about it. Why is there such a huge disparity between sections of people, society or country? Though majority of the population contributes with their capacity towards their respective governments in terms of wealth and service, the governments do not respond to the population like it should be doing. Why does a simple problem which could be solved easily persists for years together? Why is that no one bothers to question the authority and take responsibility to take it to a logical end?

Why is that all the preachers in the world could not transform the human race still? If preaching's by so called godly people could have transformed the humans, it could have transformed us by now and the world should have been a better place. It hasn't right! We will answer you the WHY!

We as humans have failed to give the necessary attention to the life around us. When we are willing to attend to the life around us and respond to it, it creates a space to interact and share. This doesn't necessarily solve the problem coz we are still limited in our ability to convert the response to action coz problem solving needs ACTION.

But willing to respond connects us in the level of a collective consciousness and this space will help the necessary attention required to get response in terms of a much-needed action, to solve a much bigger problem than the self. So willing to respond to the life around us makes us someway responsible for the happenings that aren't right.

And that's what we need in this world.

It’s a journey of creating a community of committed people who are willing to set apart, part of their earnings and learnings towards a work that must and should be done in the years to come so as to see our girls and boys have a better future.

A future of clean air, water, soil, a future that is inclusive and more joyful than ever.

NOW, how you can be a part of this PROJECT, how you can contribute your time and energy, how frequently can you engage and what are the ways you can involve yourself into this PROJECT.

The bigger vision is to make this planet a more CONCIOUS PLANET. But where do we start! We have brainstormed a lot and this has come from years of experience working with different groups and people who work on ground zero. We would want to take this project in phased manner with a proper timeline, geography and keeping in mind the scale.

To start off with, we want to address the following three areas post COVID:

EDUCATION To move a large population towards a conscious living. It starts from the primary level of education to the tertiary level, the latter involving not only higher education but also includes the illiterate and uneducated class both in urban and rural areas.

ECOLOGY To bring back the green cover and conserve the existing biodiversity. This part also involves the ailing agriculture which is mainly due to unhealthy agricultural practices that have destroyed the very soil which is the basis of all creation on this planet. Time to marry ecology with economy.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT & MITIGATION Climate change is real issue now and it will grow exponentially here onwards. Extreme heat conditions and Heavy rains, that will destroy wealth, infrastructure and disturb the routine life of people. Managing the situation when a disaster strikes and mitigating the future disaster through necessary infrastructure and climate change measures.

So, we are starting off with these 3 key areas which will have an immediate effect on the humanity in the near future.

How are we addressing it ?

The answer is : LEADER'S FUND

We understood why the problems come up in the first place and what needs to be changed. One of the main factors is lack of INTEGRITY and commitment by people in the leadership positions of the system of entities that govern large number of people.

It's the LACK of pressure groups and civil society watch dogs which has made the whole system corrupt. Hence it becomes more important to create an ECOSYSTEM of aware people in each society so that they not only keep a check on the people who govern and rule the state but also see that they themselves enter the system through the democratic process. Now let's understand why we don't see grassroot level leaders working for social causes. The most obvious answer is that there's no money flow in working for social causes. Even if people decide to work in that direction, there is no proper support system, skill set or guidance. There are also COVERT attempts to bring hurdles in the work especially if a particular organization or person is UNBAISED when it comes in taking a POLITICAL STAND.

The other set of people who DO get a support system through fellowships or grants, but do not intend to continue and make it a career, is because the support system is for a small duration of time. All these drawbacks make a youth choose a corporate job over a CHANGE MAKER, even if he/she is passionate about working on social issues.

HOW ARE INTENDING TO CHANGE IT ?

If we can make necessary arrangements for a sustainable financial support for the people who love to work on social causes, we can always groom the self-motivated and selfless individuals to deal with the rest of the things both in personal and professional life different way altogether. The long-term commitment towards creating impact leaders, who will just multiply our work many folds, by giving them a decent supporting financial aid and decent way to live and work, is the main reason of the LEADER"S FUND and the idea of the initiative of behind the #thefirst1000mavericks.

Some even more intellectual people would question the difference between #thefirst1000mavericks PROJECT and LEADER'S FUND. Well let me put it this way - If you want to have fruits in your tree, you can’t simply sit there and dream about fruits hanging on the tree. You need to create right kind of ambience. You need to nurture the soil, put organic content to it, plant the mango tree, water it, make sure it receives good sunlight and depending upon the external situation the fruits will come up accordingly. Similarly, if we want to make sure the projects get executed on ground and be helpful for the much needed, there needs to be a lot of work that needs be done right from talking, travelling, surveying, brainstorming ideas and solutions, researching, developing solutions, testing it, raising funds, executing the project and supervise its helpfulness.

To all this to happen there needs to be two kinds of funds that we usually talk about - one is the capital fund and the other one is the running fund.

Capital fund is to setup the necessary infrastructure and initial human resource before we get into working on the major projects. Running fund is the one that is required to hire new people, to procure essential goods and services, reserve funds etc.

So here the project that concentrates on raising the Capital fund is the LEADER’S FUND. We already went through what the project is and the math behind it. Through this project we intend to raise a total funding of Rs. 30L over a period of 3 months.

#thefirst1000mavericks is very similar. The only difference is, it would be concentrating more on the funds required to execute major projects of YUVA. The donor would be a someone who will commit himself/herself to donate for a period of 3 years. The funds go into the corpus of the organization, for paying the stipend of the recruits, for the functioning of the think tank - YUVA Labs and all other major projects of YUVA.

We would love to explain in detail the projects of YUVA. But before that, I would want to pitch our plans for the coming 3 months.

A dedicated SAPCE is always the first requirement when we have the crowd on board. The productivity of the human beings works at its best when things are properly organized. Hence, the PHASE 2 of the project involves in coming up with a MAKER SPACE on half an acre of land in the KRS backwaters of Mysore. The land purchased would then house a maker space, a space for think tank, a yoga school, a music and art studio, hostel facility for 5 people, a good amount of green area. The buildings and the landscape would be built totally using the earth materials and would be one of its kinds in the city.

The overall budget is estimated to be around Rs. 30L.

LEADER'S FUND is the effort to reachout to 150 odd investors interested in investing Rs.20000/-.

The income that will be set apart out of the total income generated by various projects from YUVA Labs would be roughly estimated to be around 3Lakhs. YUVA Labs would invest these as corpus funds in various Mutual Funds. Investors will be getting yearly returns AFTER a period of 3 years for the next 30 years. The percentage of returns would be anywhere between 7% to 10%.
