LIGHT-UP PROJECT

Light dispels darkness and losses from generation to consumption of electricity amounts to about 40%. The project will work on delivering clean, EFFICIENT, affordable and Isolated clusters of Energy solutions.

The project was a flagship project of YUVA and was started by providing solar based lighting systems to two families of Krishnanangara, Puttur Taluk in the year 2010. It’s been 14 years from then, the project has been able to accomplish much in the R&D of renewable energy and we have one the most efficient and affordable energy solutions for domestic loads and THE commercial loads which is related to the concerns of marginalized people such as Govt. Schools or street lights etc.

Over the years, working in different terrains to bring a clean source of lighting to the people away from the grid, what we realized is that more than 40% of the energy got lost when it travelled from the producing stations to the end consumer. Which means the grid system was superbly inefficient, also majority of the population had loads not exceeding 5 bulbs, 3 fans, a TV, a refrigerator (URBAN), a mixer (5min in day) which in total would be no more than 0.5kW. To cater this load, which is majority of the load, energy or electricity had to travel from hundreds of kms and had to be stepped down over and over again to catch up to these small loads. I mean why?

Our project aims at making the Domestic loads self sufficient and decentralized with the technology that we have fined tuned over the years.
